Allegrini Corte Giara Amarone della Valpolicella 2018
Gyártó: Allegrini
Drink now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. Giovanni Allegrini is a legendary figure in the Valpolicella region thanks to his dedication to improving the local wines through strict grape selection and questioning traditional methods of doing things that didn’t always put quality first. The family have been winemakers here for six generations, and today they have some 247 acres spread across seven unique vineyards outside Fumane in the northern part of Valpolicella. Corte Giara is an exciting collaboration between the Allegrini family and several local grape growers to make delicious and approachable Valpolicella wines in a modern style. This punchy Amarone is a great example of their philosophy, with ample fruit flavours and plenty of power balanced by elegance and freshness. It’s made primarily from the local Corvina Veronese grape which is traditionally used for Amarone along with some Rondinella, with the grapes left to dry out and become like raisins over the winter. This traditional method removes water from the grapes, intensifying the sweetness and flavours of the fruit which in turn produces a more powerful wine. After vinification the young wine is left to mature in a combination of large Slavonian casks and used barrels for 15 months, adding subtle hints of toast and spice to the luscious dark fruit flavours.
