Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz 2018
Gyártó: Leeuwin Estate
Drink now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. The story of Leeuwin Estate begins in 1969 when it was purchased by a businessman from Perth, Denis Horgan. It wasn’t until three years later, following a visit from legendary American winemaker Robert Mondavi, that the property’s potential for making world class wines was recognised. Today Leeuwin specialises in crafting one of Australia’s finest Chardonnays as well as several magnificent reds bottled under their flagship Art Series label. Their Shiraz is crafted from estate fruit and showcases the potential of the variety in Margaret River’s moderate maritime climate. In the winery the young wine is aged in a combination of new and used oak barrels for 18 months to add polish and complexity. Blueberries, plums and dark cherries characterise the nose along with hints of anise, caramel, and dried violets. On the palate there is a full body, firm tannins, and complex flavour profile with rich, dark fruit balanced by baking spice, black pepper and licorice notes. The long finish and intense flavours make this a great match for barbecued meats and hearty beef stews. This would also make a great addition to the cellar where it can easily be kept for another decade or so.
