Petrolo Boggina C 2018
Gyártó: Petrolo
Drink now or cellar for up to 12 years. No need to decant before serving. Pioneering winemaker Luca Sanjust originally pursued a career as a painter before leaving it all behind to take over the family winery. In the 1980s and 1990s his vision and hard work helped establish Petrolo as a cult Super Tuscan winery with a stellar reputation for powerful Sangiovese wines as well as his iconic Merlot-based Galatrona Bordeaux-style blend. This magnificent single vineyard cuvee is made from the oldest vineyard on the estate which was planted in 1947 by Luca’s grandfather and the founder of Petrolo, Gastone Bazzocchi. The 13 acre vineyard is planted with prized Sangiovese vines with yields kept low to create rich, full-bodied wines with plenty of complexity and depth. After vinification the young wine is aged in one 22 hectolitre cask and several smaller barrels for 16 to 18 months depending on the vintage. The final stage is a further 6 months ageing in the bottle before it’s deemed ready for release. On the nose seductive notes of ripe black cherries, wild berries and dried rose petals dominate, while the first sip reveals a solid medium body, fine tannins, and a robust core of dark fruit.
