Greywacke Chardonnay 2015
Gyártó: Greywacke
Drink now through to 2028. Serve chilled. Greywacke is a wine label created by Kevin Judd who worked as a winemaker for Cloudy Bay for 25 years and helped put Marlborough on the map internationally for world-class Sauvignon Blanc. Judd named the project after the grey sedimentary rock which is common in the area and makes his wines at Dog Point Winery using prime fruit sourced from vineyards across the Marlborough appellation. The fruit for Judd’s Chardonnay was primarily sourced from Brancott Valley and Fairhall which sit on clay loam soils as well as Renwick and Rapaura which are planted on alluvial soils with plenty of “greywacke” river stones. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and fermented in French oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then bottled after 18 months of maturation in the barrel with occasional lees stirring. Toasted brioche, sweet almonds, ripe peach and melon aromas immediately burst out of the glass while the first sip opens with mouthwatering acidity, a well-rounded texture and medium body from the extended ageing process. On the palate there are rich stone fruit flavours along with some bright citrus zest and a long finish seasoned with hints of vanilla and sweet spice from the oak.
