Sogrape Morgadio da Torre Alvarinho 2017
Gyártó: Sogrape
Drink now through to 2022. Serve well chilled. Lovers of crisp, aromatic whites will be seduced by this lively Alvarinho which opens with aromas of loquat, peach, and lemon zest. The first sip reveals a racy acidity, hints of minerality, and vibrant citrus flavours accented with apricots and mangos. This food-friendly wine is ideal for pairing with salads, seafood, and fish dishes like a pan-seared salmon fillet or roasted cod. It also makes an excellent aperitif for enjoying outside in the sunshine or by the pool. To craft this fresh and light white winemaker Miguel Pessanha uses precise winemaking techniques which carefully protect the grape must and wine from oxidation throughout the process to preserve the bright fruit character. One key factor is the use of gentle pneumatic presses to extract the grape must before it is fermented in temperature-controlled tanks. After fermentation is complete the wine is aged for 6 months on the lees to add complexity and a creamier texture to the finished wine. The Alvarinho, or Albarino as its known in Spain, grapes which go into this stunning white are grown in the Moncao de Melagco sub-region of Vinho Verde and represent the finest expression of the grape in Portugal. The Morgadio da Torre has a particularly noble reputation in the region, having been established in 1603 and now falling into the capable hands of Mafalda da Cunha Guedes and her siblings.
