Grasso Fratelli Barbera d'Alba Matine 2016
Gyártó: Grasso Fratelli
Ideally drink now! Decant 2 hours, best served at 18-20°C The deep violet tinged ruby red of this Barbera d’Alba is reflected in the sun ripened plum and black cherry nose, layered with vanilla and baking spice. The palate follows suit with juicy red fruit of raspberry and red cherry, alongside bright acidity and soft, smooth tannins. The balance and finesse of this wine should enjoyed now, as the flavors of this Barbera have had a chance to fully incorporate in the last 6 years, and the wine is currently reaching its peak, showing dense sour cherry while being soft and supple. The favorable acidity of this wine will cut through rich fatty dishes like liver pate and herbed cheeses, seared duck breast with a cherry gastrique, and roasted rack of lamb with a spicy harissa spread. Thriving in the chalky and limestone rich clays of the Langhe region, this Barbera shows greatness in the freshness of the fruit and the characteristic low tannins and high acidity. Brothers Luigi and Alfredo Grasso have wisely worked the vineyard that sits on 7 hectares of full southern facing hills and high altitude, giving the grapes excellent opportunity to fully ripen and rich flavors to develop. Although they do not practice an ultra modern approach to winemaking, the Grasso brothers focus on maximum freshness in their yield which is exemplified in this beautiful Barbera d’Alba. Salute!
