Drink now through to 2028. No need to decant. Can be served at 14°C. This unique Beaujolais wine is the masterpiece of up-and-coming local winemaker, Romain. The third generation of the Zordan family to make wine at Chateau de Grand Pre, Romain makes this limited production natural wine in a quirky rotating spherical container which is made of fibreglass. This unusual fermentation vessel allows the lees to circulate freely and avoids the need for racking. Romain then ages the wine in large oak barrels for 7 months before bottling. The result is a captivating Fleurie which exudes vibrant red cherry, violet and mineral notes on both the nose and palate. The body is light and perfectly-balanced with plenty of freshness and fine tannins. Vivacious and easy to drink, this is an ideal wine to serve alongside rich duck dishes or a succulent coq au vin or Toulouse sausages. Set in the heart of the iconic Fleurie cru, Chateau de Grand Pre was purchased by Louis and Renée Zordan in 1972 and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the region’s most dynamic producers. In 2009 the entire estate was converted to organic agriculture and Romain’s maverick and artisanal approach has injected a certain vivacity into the commune as a whole with the estate’s wines winning fans from all over the globe.
