Rizzi Barbaresco Riserva Boito 2015
Gyártó: Rizzi
Cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant before serving. Ernesto Dellapiana followed his dreams to found his own winery in 1974 on the estate that has been in his family since the 19th century. He’s fond of saying “I have a crazy love for the earth”, a phrase that reflects his true passion for creating beautiful wines inspired by the stunning scenery of the Langhe region. Recently, his two sons have taken over the running of the estate and now look after some 40 hectares of vines which include some of Barbaresco’s finest crus. Enrico is an artist and paints the images that feature on their labels as well as making the family’s wines. This stunning example comes from their Cascina Boito estate which was historically owned by the family and was bought back by Ernesto in 1984. Their Boito vineyard is located in the upper part of the Rizzi cru where the soils are deeper and contain more clay. This produces a muscular and robust wine with excellent ageing potential. That’s why it is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 18-21 months and it is only released around 50 months after the harvest. Powerful and full of complexity, this is a Barbaresco that’s worth cellaring for a few more years or serving alongside hearty dishes like a ribeye steak, beef stews, or barbecued meats. Ripe plum, violets, licorice and leather dominate on the nose, while the palate offers firm tannins, a solid core of fruit, and a very long finish seasoned with earthy and spiced notes.
