Chateau Maucoil Cotes du Rhone Villages 2018
Gyártó: Chateau Maucoil
Cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant before serving. The story of Chateau Maucoil dates right back to Roman times when an army base was created here for Julius Caesar. The first mention of winemaking here came much later, in 1624, when the property was inherited by Joseph de la Pise. In 1995 the estate was purchased by the Arnaud family who have worked tirelessly to produce top quality wines. Since 2011 the entire estate has been farmed organically with the family pursuing minimal intervention methods like ploughing to work in harmony with nature wherever possible. This delicious Cotes du Rhone is a classic blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre which are sourced from very close to Maucoil’s Chateaneuf du Pape vines. This gives the wine a remarkable complexity and depth of flavour not found in most Cotes du Rhone wines. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, fermented and the young wine aged in vats prior to bottling. Luscious bramble, cassis and dark cherry dominate the nose while the first sip reveals intense crushed berry, sweet spice and dried fruit flavours. On the palate there is a medium body, ripe tannins and well-rounded texture. The finish is long with hints of woodsmoke, tobacco leaf and dark chocolate.
