Julien Sunier Julien Sunier Regnie 2018
Gyártó: Julien Sunier
Drink now through to 2024. No need to decant before serving. Julien’s magnificent Regnie opens with delicate notes of wild berries, incense, and bitter chocolate. The first sip reveals a bright acidity, medium body, and elegant structure with refined tannins and a long finish. Fruit for this wine is sourced from Julien’s 1.1 hectare plot at the base of the Cote de Py hillside which has an average vine age of 60 years. Julien farms the vineyard organically and harvests all of the fruit by hand to get the best quality grapes possible each year. Julien’s philosophy also involves a light touch in the winery where he favours fermentation with wild yeasts, slow pressing using an ancient vertical press, and ageing in neutral French oak barrels. Before bottling 80% of the young Regnie wine is aged in used oak while the remainder is matured in cement to preserve freshness and varietal character. Julien Sunier was born in the Burgundian capital of Dijon and first became interested in winemaking after working with Christophe Roumier after leaving school. He later travelled the globe learning his trade, working in New Zealand and California before founding his own project in 2008 in Beaujolais.
