Schiopetto Collio Friulano 2017
Gyártó: Schiopetto
Drink now through to 2022. Serve chilled. A true benchmark for Friuli wines, the Schiopetto estate owes its reputation to the visionary Mario Schiopetto who helped initiate a new era in Italian winemaking during the 1960s and 1970s. Mario’s commitment to quality and modernising the region’s traditional winemaking methods set a new standard for Friuli’s white wines. Today this legacy is carried on by new owner, Emilio Rotolo, who has made his own mark on the estate’s exquisite wines. The Collio Friulano is Schiopetto’s classic expression of the Tocai Friulano grape variety which Mario spent years experimenting with and perfecting the ideal vinification method to suit its unique characteristics. Following the manual harvest the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged on the lees for 8 months. The wine is then bottled and kept for another five months before it is released. On the nose there are enticing hints of sweet apricots, pears, and toasted almonds while the first sip reveals a bright acidity, crisp citrus notes, and a medium body with a smooth, creamy texture. Served well chilled, this refreshing white makes for an excellent aperitif accompanied by a platter of charcuterie or cheeses to tempt the appetite.
