Salvatore Molettieri Irpinia Aglianico Cinque Querce 2017
Gyártó: Salvatore Molettieri
Cellar for up to 7 years. No need to decant before serving. The Molettieri family have been making wine here in Montemarano in Campania for four generations. In 1983 Salvatore took the decision to start bottling his own Taurasi wines instead of selling the grapes to Mastroberardino and the family’s own winery was born. Today Salvatore has been joined in the family business by his four sons, Giuseppe, Luigi, Paolo, and Giovanni who is the estate’s winemaker. This magnificent red is crafted from the classic local Aglianico grape which is used to make the region’s powerful Taurasi reds. Created as a “baby Taurasi”, it's made from top quality grapes grown on clay and calcareous soils in the Cinque Querce vineyard. The grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks and then aged in barriques and large oak casks for 24 months before bottling. The nose is dominated by luscious dark fruit including cassis, mulberries, plums and black cherries which linger in the air. The first sip reveals a robust full body, firm tannins and a smooth, well-rounded texture leading on to a long, lightly spiced finish. The power and character of this red make a great match for game, red meats and mature cheeses.
