Drink now through to 2032. No need to decant before serving. Mollydooker was founded in 2006 by Sarah and Sparky Marquis, two of Australia’s top winemakers. Named after the Australian slang for “left-hander”, their innovative project is located on Seaview Ridge in the heart of the McLaren Vale. Here the Mediterranean climate and excellent soils are perfectly suited to making full-bodied red wines with plenty of personality and rich fruit character. Over its short history Mollydooker has received a wealth of international accolades, including featuring 8 times in Wine Spectator’s annual Top 100 list. This impressive Aussie Cabernet is named after Sparky’s part-time college job. Top quality grapes are sourced from Long Gully Road, Ryans Road, Martins Road and Coppermine Road in McLaren Vale. In the winery the fruit is fermented in barrels and then matured in a combination of French and American oak. On the nose there are profound raspberry, cassis and dark cherry aromas seasoned with hints of bitter chocolate, ground coffee, and woodsmoke. The palate reveals a generous full body, firm tannins and rich texture along with a very long finish reminiscent of cigar box spice and toasted oak. A great addition to any collector’s cellar or partner for hearty red meat dishes like steak and barbecued meats.
