Rose petals, lychee, grapefruit and ripe mango notes open on the nose while the first sip reveals a vibrant freshness, medium body, and slight hint of sweetness from the tiny amount of residual sugar. In the mouth this is a soft, smooth white with a spicy tropical fruit character and a clean finish. The aromatics make this an excellent partner for Asian salads and curries as well as summer salads and fish dishes prepared with fresh herbs. The Gewurztraminer grapes for this wine are sourced from steep hillside vineyards above the town of Bolzano in South Tyrol where the high elevation and well-draining soils are ideal for making crisp and fresh white wines. In the winery the grapes are lightly pressed and fermented in stainless steel temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the vibrancy and aromatics naturally inherent in the variety. Kellerei Bozen has been producing wine in the picturesque alpine setting of the Alto Adige for over a century. Today the cooperative is composed of 224 local families who grow grapes on the region’s dramatic slopes and the stunning bronze cube building of the winery draws visitors from all over the world to taste and appreciate the quality of their diverse portfolio of wines.
