Castello Tricerchi Rosso di Montalcino 2018
Gyártó: Castello Tricerchi
Cellar for up to 7 years. No need to decant before serving. On the northern slopes of Montalcino sits the majestic Castello Tricerchi which was built by the Tricerchis in 1441 and is still owned by the same family to this day. The property is located on the Via Francigena road which once thronged with pilgrims on their way to the Vatican. Nowadays Castello Tricerchi is run as a winery by Tommaso and Emanuele Squarci who represent the 17th generation of the family to take care of this historic property. Until very recently the family used to sell their grapes to the Geografico cooperative, but in 2012 they began making and bottling their own wines with the help of legendary winemaker Maurizio Castelli. Despite being relative newcomers on the scene, their wines have proved a hit locally and are starting to gain international recognition for their quality and excellent value. Their Rosso di Montalcino is made in a traditional style using naturally-occurring yeasts and extended maturation in large Slavonian oak casks for 12 months. The nose opens with sour cherries and crushed berries while on the palate there is a racy acidity carefully balanced by bright red fruit and subtle spiced notes from the oak ageing. A fantastic easy-going wine to drink with charcuterie as well as pasta and pizza.
