Quinta da Fallorca Quinta da Falorca Garrafeira 2011
Gyártó: Quinta da Fallorca
Drink now through to 2030. Decant for 2 hours before serving. Costa Barros de Figuerido family have been making powerful red wines on their Quinta Vale Das Escadinhas estate close to the Dão river in central Portugal for five generations. Today the family combines traditional winemaking techniques like foot treading the grapes after the harvest with modern technology and expertise. This magnificent single varietal bottling is made with Touriga Nacional grapes sourced from the family’s Quinta da Falorca vineyard. This site contains at least 31 different clones of Touriga Nacional which contribute to the complex flavour profile of the Garrafeira. The vines are planted on steep south-facing slopes which ensures full exposure to the sun and produces intensely concentrated reds with a firm, ageworthy structure. All of the grapes destined for this wine are picked by hand, vinified, and then matured in first and second use French oak barrels for 24 months. The wine is then aged for an additional 30 months in the bottle before it is deemed ready for release. On the nose the Garrafeira offers intoxicating aromas of crushed dark berries, licorice and dried Mediterranean herbs, while the first sip reveals a well-rounded mouthfeel, full body and ripe tannins balanced by a subtle freshness.
