Champagne Michel Gonet Brut Fravaux
Gyártó: Champagne Michel Gonet
Enjoy it now, or within two years of vintage. No need to decant before serving. Michel Gonet is a family winery of six generations, nestled among 40 hectares of scenic vineyards in Côte des Blancs, Champagne. The Gonet’s journey with wine-making officially began in 1802 when Charles Gonet founded his own champagne house. For a long time, the family operated under the name “Gonet et Fils”, until Michel Gonet founded his own cellar in 1973. This winery is now in the skilled hands of his daughter, Sophie. Michel Gonet winery produces several “Blanc des Noirs” wines, delectable, white sparkling wines made from the red Pinot Noir grape. The Côte des Blancs boasts a unique range of natural features, perfect for cultivating this delicate fruit. In Fravaux, Pinot Noir is mostly grown on the slopes of Bar Sur Aubois. The Reims Mountains form a natural shield, protecting vineyards from austere northerly winds. In the glass, “Le Varlan” is an appealing pale gold, bursting with aromas of citrus zest, fresh bread, and the smallest hints of wild strawberry. The palate shows high acidity, with a tart and focused mouthfeel. You’ll find flavours of fresh fruit, brioche and a savoury note, verging on salty. The wine is carried into a satisfying finish by its mineral edge. It is delicious alone, but is also food-friendly, and will be an excellent palate cleanser for a variety of dishes. Try pairing it with classic French food, such as seafood appetisers, fried mushrooms, or a florentine pastry.
