Tapiz’s Alta Collection wines are all made with quality fruit sourced from the winery’s Finca San Pablo estate which is located in the lofty Uco Valley in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. This is Mendoza’s highest winemaking sub-region and Tapiz’s vineyards here sit at an altitude of 1400 metres with dramatic views over to the mountains. These unique conditions are perfect for creating aromatic and refreshing whites like this elegant Chardonnay thanks to the cool nights even during the summer months. On the nose there are powerful notes of citrus, tropical fruit and creamy hints from the fermentation in oak barrels. The first sip reveals a generous full body, rich and smooth texture and vibrant white peach, honey and toasted nut flavours which linger long on the tongue. The well-rounded character of this delicious Chardonnay makes it great to pair with food, especially roast chicken, salmon and risottos. Tapiz is one of Argentina’s most innovative and high-tech wineries thanks to their commitment to viticultural research and development in association with the University of Cuyo. Heading up the winemaking team is top consultant Jean-Claude Berrouet has previously worked at both Chateau Petrus in Bordeaux and Dominus in Napa Valley.
